Safeguarding

We take the safety and wellbeing of everyone seriously - including employees, workers, trustees, and the people we serve.

Safeguarding at Faith in Later Life

We are committed to safeguarding in a way that is responsible, proportionate, and rooted in our Christian values.

This means we seek to:

  • follow the law and recognised safeguarding guidance;

  • act with care, integrity, and wisdom in all our relationships and activities;

  • create a culture where concerns can be raised and responded to appropriately;

  • regularly review and strengthen our safeguarding practice.

Our Trustees, staff team, and Safeguarding Lead work together to ensure that our safeguarding arrangements are clear, robust, and appropriate for the work we do.

If you have any concerns or you need to speak with someone about safeguarding at Faith in Later Life, please contact our Safeguarding Officer (named person), Stephen Hammersley in the first instance.

We want everyone who engages with Faith in Later Life to feel safe, respected, and able to speak up if something does not feel right. We also expect anyone representing Faith in Later Life to report any safeguarding concern, whether it relates to a person, a situation, or the way we work.

Safeguarding in Churches

Although Faith in Later Life has no power to enforce good safeguarding practice in churches or other community-based ministries, the charity actively encourages all those working with and alongside vulnerable adults and children to take safeguarding seriously and to follow their internal procedures, ensuring that all those they are in contact with are kept safe from harm.

If your church does not yet have safeguarding policies and procedures, we urge you to put these into place and practice. If your church belongs to a denomination, network or wider church body, they will be able to provide safeguarding policies, guidance and support. Please contact the relevant safeguarding team.
