Reaching, serving and empowering older people

Welcome to this March Faith in Later Life newsletter where we will be sharing updates and news, signposting to new resources, and highlighting opportunities for you to get involved with.

“I have come away from every session I have attended encouraged, with at least one idea I could use or adapt to stay connected with the people in my fellowship.” – Church Champion

Resource of the month

Ponky Wonky Grampaw

Revd Ian Knox writes about his lifetime experiences as a young boy, teenager, husband, father, grandfather, lawyer and evangelist and of the people he has met along the way. Laughter and tears, but mostly smiling…through a rich and rewarding journey.

March news

As I write we are nearing Holy Week and then Easter, and the greatest day. How wonderful that even in the midst of this pandemic, we know as believers that there is love, redemption and hope found in the Lord Jesus. Hallelujah!

We continue to be busy planning our ‘Faith in the Second Half’ online conference, as well as engaging with Christian media, and continuing in our work supporting and growing our church champion network. And we are delighted that so many of you are sending our Easter postcards to an older person in your community- so far over 3000 cards have been ordered! We pray that means 3000 older people encouraged and loved, as they receive an Easter postcard. There is still time to order a pack, to do so click here.

April marks the beginning of the new financial year and with it another 12 months of plans for Faith in Later Life, and we thank God that He enables our mission and continues to bless our growth. As we continue to grow as a Christian voice for older people, add to our website resources, and in the next 12 months double our church champion community to support and equip Church Champions across 700 churches in the UK, we need your help.

Would you commit to praying for us if you are not doing so already? And of course, as a small charity, your financial support is crucial. Can I ask that you prayerfully consider whether you could commit to giving to enable our ministry to continue? If you were able to give regularly (every pound makes a difference) to the work of Faith in Later Life- or even a one-off donation- that would be hugely appreciated and would help us with our planning. You can give by contacting us directly and we can provide our bank details, or by setting up giving via our website. If you would like a conversation about this, I will happily speak with you. Thank you for partnering with us in this vital gospel ministry!

Everything we do is underpinned by prayer, so we thank you for your continued prayers for our ministry. Please can you pray for:

  • Our plans for 2021 and for financial provision.
  • Our preparation for our ‘Faith in the Second Half’ conference.
  • That thousands of older people would know the love of Christ this Easter, as we send Easter postcards, and reach out to older people in our communities in other ways.

Yours in Christ,

CEO, Faith in Later Life
