Sanctuary in the midst

Sanctuary in the midst

Sanctuary in the Midst of Alzheimer’s is a Bible-based study that uses narratives from spousal caregivers to help congregation members “walk in their shoes.” The entire curriculum is comprised of two studies – one study for spousal caregivers and the other study for church members who feel called to serve those affected by dementia. During 4 weeks, each group meets separately studying lesson plans specifically designed for their group. In week 5, both groups come together to share their outcomes. The needs and challenges compiled by spousal caregivers are “synergized” with the gifts and services discovered by members of the congregation. In bringing these needs and gifts to light, a dementia ministry can be created.
