Christians in Care

ChristiansinCare

I’m a nurse by background, primarily working in hospice care.  In July this year, I began a new role leading a new network called Christians in Care, funded by Pilgrims’ Friend Society.  Christians in Care seeks to connect Christians working in paid roles across the social care sector, across the UK; together encouraging and inspiring one another to live and speak for Jesus.  It’s like the work of Christian Medical Fellowship if you’re familiar with them.

We know the care sector has many challenges and often the work of the carer is physically and emotionally hard, their precious work goes unnoticed and is undervalued and underpaid even though they are providing essential care to the most vulnerable in our society.

As Christians providing care, we have the privilege of showing the deep love God has for each person, made in His image and precious to Him.  The way we care can convey that deep love and restore dignity and it’s incredible hearing stories from carers who can share how God answers their prayers and opens doors for them to gently and sensitively share the precious gift of Jesus with those around them.

It’s a joy to connect with carers from a variety of settings through WhatsApp groups and monthly virtual meet ups where we create a safe space to reflect and share the highs and lows, pray for one another, share encouragement from the bible and provide discussion time and resource on topics relevant to faith and work.

You can find out more here and please do share this invitation with your churches, friends and family – we’re keen for as many Christian carers as possible to receive this invitation and pray we can provide encouragement to them.
